Position: VP, Institutional Development
Reports to: VP, Business Development
Level: Executive

The VP of Institutional Development reports into the VP of Business Development and works in tandem with Regional Sales Directors to cultivate, introduce and foster relationships with key decisions makers. The VP of Institutional Development is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing execution of a sales and marketing strategy in accordance with organizational objectives. He/she will assist in the cultivation of multi-family decision maker relationships and closing of national contracts by utilizing their rolodex of contacts within the Multi-Family industry. The main objective of this role is to find, engage and develop relationships with Multi-Family Ownership Groups.

  • Pull from industry knowledge, B2B sales experience and overall business acumen to develop, implement and oversee execution of a strategic plan for the sales/marketing function
  • Introduce Ownership groups to client's services
  • Owning and hitting/exceeding annual sales targets within assigned accounts
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Identify revenue gaps by comparing existing business with opportunities for additional business
  • Monitor competitor activities and stay abreast of market and industry trends and shift strategy

  • Collaborate with Operations and Finance leaders to ensure cross-functional alignment of sales

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with national multi-family portfolio decision makers
  • Assist Regional Sales team with identifying, cultivating, and closing national portfolio accounts
  • Attend industry events, affiliate with associations, and participate in other networking opportunities
  • Reporting on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts
  • Present at Industry-specific events on value add of Valet Trash service
  • Ensure effective use of technology within the sales process
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 5-7 years’ experience achieving sales and profitability goals as a vendor to the multifamily industry
  • 3+ years of consultative sales experience, targeting senior leadership and ownership at the national level
  • Multi-family portfolio decisionmaker relationships required
  • Prior experience and success in developing and implementing sales/marketing strategies in similar organizational environments
  • Business/financial acumen consistent with level of responsibility (ability to recognize market and financial trends/patterns and utilize findings to support business plan development, forecasting and budget activities).
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Proven ability to position products against competitors
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skill

  • Bachelors degree or High School Diploma/GED and five to seven years of work experience in a business setting at the Director or Executive level
